It's called a Recipe Based Food Storage"

And you can build it from it's name... recipes.

4 Steps To Building A Food Storage

1. Meal Plan

Make a meal plan of recipes that you eat and use now.  Preferably ones which fit with your diet and picky eater habits.  You can start with breakfast, lunch or dinner, or even just one meal at a time.

2. Convert

This is where things get fun.  You'll take every fresh ingredient from your meal plan and convert it into a shelf-stable one.  It could be dehydrated, canned, freeze-dried, whichever form you wish.  This part of the plan does take patience and a lot of time figuring out the conversions and getting them in place.

3. Math

Next, pick your food storage goal (1 month, 3 months ,etc). Figure out how many meals you have, and how long you want it for your food storage.  Then, do the math.

Example:  You have a meal plan for 1 week's worth of dinners.  Your goal is to have a 3-month supply of food.  Multiply all the ingredients by 12 for a 3 month supply shopping list.

This can be very time-consuming, and frustrating to get it all in order, but don't worry, there are some time saving tips at the bottom.

4. Shopping

Now, the fun begins!  You have your list of ingredients and you can start purchasing them!  You know exactly what you need to fill your 3 month supply, how much you need, and can shop for sales or bulk items.

Food storage is as simple as that.

You can officially feel confident you are prepared for the future and the unknown.

The bottom line is, it really is only 4 steps to building a food storage you'll eat, but it does take time, patience and organization to get you there.

The number of times your #'s won't allign, or you'll change recipes, can't find eough recipe variety, forget how much you had or need will be numerous...

I know because I did that for 3 years trying to get a system in place to stay inventoried and organized. And it's worked through 3 cross-country moves!

Stick with it, you can do this!!
